Every other year,
Theatre UAB
seeks new and original
plays confronting racial or ethnic issues, especially those calling for ethnically
diverse and/or multi-racial casting. We are
especially interested in full-length dramas
or comedies that could be produced as part
of our regular season (that is, that could
be performed by a diverse and talented group
of college students).

The Ruby Lloyd Apsey Play Search
Theatre UAB ASC 255
1530 3rd Avenue South
Birmingham AL 35294-1263 |
The Apsey Award is a $1000 prize plus a staged reading at Theatre UAB and
the possibility of a fully-mounted production.
Previously-produced and unproduced scripts
are equally welcome.
This is a biennial contest. The next submission period will begin
September 1, 2008 and end on December 5th, 2008.
We prefer hard-copy submissions, but we do
accept electronic submissions as well. Send your script as a PDF or Word file --
to us via the address leeshack@uab.edu -- and please consolidate your entire submission (title
page with full contact information, synopsis,
character and scene list, and complete script)
into ONE FILE ONLY. Scripts submitted as multiple files run
a very high risk of being lost.
Any submission questions not answered here?
Write to us.
