(205) 515-1980 INT. CAR - AFTERNOON PAUL ANDROS is sitting behind the wheel of a four-door sedan. He is a younger man. He is wearing a nice black pin-striped suit. He has no expression on his face. Paul turns the steering wheel of the car, and the car takes off. EXT. Car driving on street The BMW is crawling slowly down a deserted two-lane blacktop. Tree after tree pass as the BMW rolls along. A small town can be seen up ahead on the road. The BMW drives into the heart of the small town. There are not many buildings here. Not much traffic either. A country grocery store, probably the only store in town, is up ahead on the right of the road. Paul sees a group of men sitting on the front porch of the only store in town. They seem to be smiling, laughing, and having a good time, along with some extracurricular fun. Int. Car Paul turns the knob on the radio. He listens for a few seconds and then turns the knob again. After listening for a few more seconds, he just turns the radio off. Paul rolls down the window and sticks his head out the window. He shakes his head and runs his hand through his hair. Then he sticks his head back in the window and rolls the window back up. Ext. Road - later that afternoon The BMW is heading towards a four-way stop. As the car approaches the stop sign, a truck pulls up on the opposite side. The truck has a guy and two girls sitting in the front seat. They are laughing and cutting up, moving their arms to the music blaring out of the truck. There are also two guys and two girls in the back of the pickup. They each have a beer in their hand and are also having a good time. INT. Car Paul watches as the pickup full of people turns in front of him and heads out of sight. 0002000006750000072B66F,He reluctantly takes off still looking in the direction of the people in the truck. A horn blares loudly. EXT. Intersection Pauls BMW is inches away from hitting another car. The passenger side window of the car rolls down and the DRIVER leans over. Driver Why dont you watch where your going, asshole? You could have hurt somebody. The driver speeds off, squealing the tires. INT. car Paul gazes off in the direction of the angry motorist seemingly unaffected by the encounter. He looks down at the passenger seat towards the black pouch that sits there. He looks back at the road, while he rubs his left arm. Ext. RoAD The BMW is approaching a railroad crossing. The arms of the crossing unit are down and the lights are flashing. A train is already at the railroad crossing. Int. CAR Paul pulls the car to a stop and looks at the passing train. Car after car after car pass by. One seemingly like the next. Paul lays his head back on the headrest of the seat and lets out a sigh. He looks down at his watch as if he has somewhere to be. The caboose slowly comes into view and the train disappears off into the distance of the horizon. Paul doesnt move. He still has his head against the headrest staring blankly out the window. EXT. Railroad crossing Paul is still parked at the railroad crossing. Several cars are backed up behind the Pauls BMW. A minivan backs up from behind the BMW at the railroad crossing and passes Paul on the left. The WOMAN driving the minivan rolls down the window as she drives by slowly. Woman Some of us have places to be, jerk! The minivan speeds off over the railroad crossing and is seen no more. 0002000006B900000D9A6B3,Ext. RAILROAD CROSSING The BMW finally takes off. It crosses over the tracks and heads out of sight. Ext. Road The BMW is slowing down as it approaches a brick mailbox on the right side of the road at the end of a driveway. The BMW takes a right and heads down the driveway. EXT. Driveway As the BMW heads down the driveway, a rather large house comes into view. This is a Victorian style house that seems rather out of place in the outskirts of the small town from where Paul just drove through. The house is three stories tall and is absolutely a work of art. EXT. House The BMW pulls to a stop at the front entrance to the house. Paul gets out of the car with the black pouch. He shuts the car door and heads toward the front door. He takes his keys and finds the one for the front door. He puts the key in the lock and turns the key. The door opens and he walks inside. Int. House Paul shuts the door and sets his keys down on the table next to the door. The interior of the house is a direct contrast to the exterior. The house is almost entirely unfurnished. The only pieces of furniture in the living room are an old couch and an entertainment center with a TV and stacked full of DVDs. Int. Living room Paul walks out of the living room and into another room. Int. Bedroom Paul throws the black pouch on to the bed. Paul takes off his neat suit jacket and hangs it back up neatly on a hanger still hanging on the bedroom door knob. He takes off his shirt and pants and folds them neatly likewise and places them over another hanger. He goes over to his dresser and opens a drawer. He pulls out a plain white T-shirt and throws it on. He opens another drawer and puts on some athletic shorts. 0002000006390000144D633,He goes over to the mirror to look at himself. Int. Bedroom looking in mirror A big veiny black spot is on Pauls arm. He notices the black spot on his arm and rubs at it. He winces at the touch of it. Int. BeDROOM Paul walks away from the mirror and out the bedroom door. Int. LiVING ROOM Paul plops down on the old couch. He grabs the remote sitting next to him and pushes the power button. The TV comes on. Paul slouches down so he barely qualifies as sitting. He lifts the remote towards the TV and pushes some more buttons. The phone rings. Paul doesnt even flinch to answer it. The phone rings three more times. Then the answering machine picks up. Answering machine This is Paul. Leave a message and I might call you back, probably not though. Beep. Jack Hey man. We havent heard from you in a while. Charlie and I havent heard from you since the funeral. I know it hurts, but you have to face it. Shannon is dead. I am sorry to be so blunt, but youve got to shake this off, man. Paul jumps up off the couch and rushes to the phone. He picks up the receiver. Paul Fuck you, man. I am the one that died in that car wreck, not her. JACK Ease up Paul. Im only trying to help. PAUL Funny. I dont remember asking for it. JACK I knew I shouldnt have called. PAUL Well, why did you? JACK Because I care about you, man. PAUL Just fuck off. If I wanted help I would go get it. JACK It doesnt matter to me how angry and spiteful your being to me, I love you and I wont give up on you. Paul hangs up the phone. He walks back over to the couch and sits down. 00020000074C00001A80746,He leans his head back over the couch and puts his hands over his face. He begins to cry. After crying softly for a minute, he leans forward on the couch, still hiding his face with hands. Paul yells out angrily. He reaches over and picks up the remote. He throws it hard into the wall to his left. He stands up wiping the tears from his eyes. Paul walks back towards the bedroom. Int. BedROOM Paul walks over to the dresser and picks up a picture frame. The picture is of Paul holding a pretty woman in his arms at a formal gathering. He begins to sob again. He places the picture back down on the dresser again. He looks to his right on the bed and sees the black pouch. He grabs it. Paul stands up and leaves the room. Int. bathroom He walks into the bathroom. He sets down the black pouch on the bathroom counter. He looks at the clock/radio and turns a couple of knobs. Pink Floyds Comfortably Numb can be heard from the radio. Paul walks over to the bathtub and turns on the faucet. He takes off his shirt and shorts. He turns off the faucet when the water is tub is sufficiently full. Paul steps into the bathtub and lies down in the tub submerged for a few moments. He reemerges and pushes back his wet hair from his face. He looks over the side of the tub and opens the black pouch that sits there on the bathroom floor. He opens it up. The pouch has two needles, a vile of some liquid, and an elastic hose about two feet long. He grabs the hose and ties it on his arm. The hose is tied about three inches above his elbow and consequently the black bruise begins to swell and the veins beneath it rise to the surface. Paul grabs the two needles from the pouch. He leans back in the tub, with just his head and arms sticking out of the water. He takes one of the needles and plugs it into one of the veins in the midst of the black bruise. 0002000007DE000021C67D8,He throws it into the corner of the bathroom and grabs the other. He repeats. His body flexes in reaction two the second injection. After struggling for a few seconds violently, his body relaxes. Pauls eyes are now slanted down and his eyelids look heavy. He slides effortlessly in the tub. Paul looks peaceful and still underneath the water in the tub. His eyes close. Ext. Field - Day Pauls eyes are closed. Paul is still laying peaceful and still. Instead of being underneath water, he is laying in an open field of beautiful green grass on a perfect sunshiny day. Paul begins to stir. He reaches up to his head and winces. He sits up while rubbing his head. He shakes his head and looks around. He is stunned to find that he is no longer in the bathtub and even more to be lying in an open field. His head darts left than right. At this moment, lightning tears across the sky. Or at least is seems like lightning. Starting at the north end of the sky and then branching all the way to the south end, completely blanketing the previously perfect blue sky. He stands up quickly. He looks around terrified. He puts his hand up to his forehead, as if feeling for a temperature. PAUL This is either some really good or some really bad heroine. He looks down and notices two things are odd about his appearance. Paul grabs the bottom of the T-shirt he is wearing. The T-shirt is a retro Pink Floyd shirt. He lets go of the shirt and looks at his left arm. Not only is the big black bruise gone, but there is also a watch on his arm. The watch reads 16:42 and is counting down instead of up. Paul thumps the front of the watch, but the watch still counts down instead. Paul once again looks up and around him taking in his surroundings. The field is absent of any defining landmarks. Off to the horizon a tree can be seen. Paul dusts off the jeans that he is wearing and takes off toward the tree. As he is walking, he still looks down at the shirt he is wearing and the watch, flabbergasted. 0002000006690000299E663,EXT. edge of field Paul is getting close to the tree. He raises his hand to his brow and wipes off some sweat. His lips look chapped and in need of water. EXT. Base of Tree Paul reaches the tree and falls at its roots. He appears exhausted. He leans his back against the tree and closes his eyes. EXT. TRee - aftERNOON A STRANGER is standing over Paul. The stranger is wearing a long-sleeve plaid shirt, some old worn jeans, and some cowboy boots. Paul is snoring away. The stranger gently nudges Paul with his boot. Paul doesnt wake up. The stranger sighs and leans down and shakes Paul. This time Paul wakes up. He is frightened by the stranger. He rolls away from him and stands up. STRANGER Dont be frightened. I am not here to harm you. PAUL Who are you? And where the hell am I? STRANGER My name is JOHN BORCHARD. As to your second question, you are on my property. PAUL Oh, Im sorry. I just woke up in the middle of your field a little while ago and have no idea how I got here or where this is. JOHN Where youve been dont matter. Only where your going. PAUL Thats a great philosophy, but I would really like to know how I got here, what the hell was that lightning about, and why I am wearing this shirt and watch. I havent worn this shirt since high school and I know it doesnt fit anymore. JOHN Well young man, how about you introduce yourself. As you apparently are a guest on my property. Paul shrugs ashamedly. PAUL I am sorry I am so rude. My name is Paul Andros. Pleasure to meet you John. Paul extends his hand towards John. John extends his hand and they shake. They both smile at one another. 00020000064D00003001647,JOHN Nice to meet you Paul. To answer some of your questions, this is one of the fields on my farm. I have lived here all my life, and my father and grandfather before me. John reaches up and scrathes the back of his head. John (CONTD) Secondly, how would I know how you got here? And you are indeed off your rocker if you thought you saw lightning. I have never seen lightning come from a perfectly cloudless sky. PAUL I guess not on both accounts. I am sorry. I am just confused about what I am doing here. I dont know where I am. Do you know how mind-blowing that is? JOHN I would suppose it would be. PAUL Is there a town near here or anything? JOHN Andalusia is about 30 clicks west of here. Other than Andalusia, I think not. PAUL Before I speak anymore, do you have any water? I am dying of thirst. JOHN Sure, why didnt you say so earlier,? John pulls of a canteen that is strapped to his belt. He hands the canteen to Paul. Paul takes the canteen and drinks plentifully from the canteen. He guzzles about three gulps and then hands the canteen back to John. PAUL Thanks JOHN No problem. This is a pointless question, but do you have anywhere to sleep? PAUL Well I have a house in Springfield. Wherever that is from here, I dont know. JOHN Ive never heard of any Springfield. What I mean to be saying is that your welcome to stay with me and my family til you get your head on straight. PAUL I would appreciate that. You dont even know me though. Seems odd to me. You find me laying here on your property in clothing unfamiliar to you and you offer to house me and feed me. 00020000075A00003648754,JOHN Wait a minute. I didnt say anything about feeding you. PAUL Yeah...Yeah. I knew you probably didnt want to feed me. JOHN Im just joking man. You can eat all you want. PAUL (laughing sarcastically) Pick on the new guy. JOHN Exactly. The two men start to walk off in the direction of the sunset. There is quite an oddness about the two of them walking next to each other. John is dressed head-to-toe in farming gear while Paul looks like he just came from a Pink Floyd concert. But here they are in this strange new place, walking side by side into the afternoon sun. Ext. Field - Dusk PAUL It looks like your a farmer. What do you grow? JOHN Anything you can think of. My wife, TRUDY, and I grow corn, peas, squash, tomatoes, bell peppers, and of course raise pigs, chickens, and cattle. PAUL Sounds like youve got quite the operation going. JOHN Sounds that way doesnt it. John looks to the left and spits some tobacco out. John (CONTD) My father passed it on to me when he died. I was an only a teenager when he died. Paul How did he die? John looks down. JOHN Gunshot wound. Paul can see that he has opened an old wound in John. John is silent for a while. JOHN (CONTD) Trudy and I have 6 children. 2 girls and 4 boys. Got to have some workers, you know? PAUL (Laughing) Yeah. John and Paul are climbing a gradual hill. They are almost at the top. Ext. Hilltop - dusk The two of them reach the pinnacle of the hilltop. A ranch-style house sits not 300 yards from them. A barn is not far away from the house. There also is what appears to be miles of white fencing surrounding the property. Cows graze inside this fence. Kids can be seen playing on a rope swing in front of the barn. One kid grabs the rope at the top of the hay loft, jumps out of the loft, holding on to the rope, and swings away from the barn and falls into a pile of hay. 00020000066300003D9C65D,John Beautiful isnt it? Paul is gazing across the scene laid out before him, awestruck at the simplistic beauty. PAUL It sure is. JOHN Well, lets get going. Trudy wont like it if Im late for dinner, no matter what the excuse is. They start walking of down the hillside towards the house. When the two men get closer to the house, the kids take notice of them. The kids quit their playing and take off running towards them. The first kid to John grabs on to his left leg. The next one takes his right leg. They force him to the ground. The slower kids get there and pile onto John. Paul is left alone to observe the beating of John Borchard. In the midst of the heated family brawl, the screen door on the house opens. A stunning woman walks out the front door. She looks in the direction of Paul and the family brawl. She smiles. Trudy (yelling) You kids take it easy on your father. Hes not as young as he pretends to be. At that, John stands up. He is holding one of his sons and one of his daughters under each arm. JOHN Whos old? A smile breaks on Trudys face. TRUDY Oh, nobody. Looking at his children. JOHN Well, honey. I found some delicious children for supper. Light the stove. Paul is still standing aside to the family moment. John is walking toward the house, the children in tow. TRUDY Whos your friend? John looking back towards Paul. JOHN Oh, Im terribly sorry. I just got so hungry when I saw these delicious kids. He rubs his stomach. The kids scream and run inside the house. John waves Paul over to the house. John (CONTD) Paul this is my beautiful wife Trudy. PAUL Pleasure to meet you. 000200000624000043F961E,TRUDY How do you do? PAUL Ive been better. John I found him sitting next to the hickory tree on the back lot. He doesnt know how he got here. TRUDY Thats odd. PAUL Your telling me. John I told him he could stay here till he got his head on straight. TrUDY Yeah, that's fine. John takes off up the steps of the house. Paul follows. John hugs his wife around the waist and gives her a kiss. Int. dining room A banquet is set out on the table in front of Paul. Paul is sitting in the middle of the table. John and Trudys children sit to the left and right of Paul. John sits at one end of the table and Trudy on the other. Two roasted chickens lay out before him. A massive pile of shucked corn lay on another plate. More plates of peas and corn bread are at other ends of the table. JOHN Alright. Everyone take hands. All the children take each others hands. Paul reluctantly takes the hands of the children next to him. John (CONTD) Bow your heads. Thank you Lord for the bounty laid before us. Bless the hands that prepared it. Thank you for all your blessings, and thank you for sending us Paul. For we know there is a reason for all things you will. Bless us all, Amen. Everyone raises their heads and reaches for the food. Paul is still put off by the Johns prayer. TRUDY I can see your not a praying man. PAUL I wouldnt quite say that. I am saved by the grace of God. Its just I have been on the outs with the man upstairs since he killed my wife. The kids stop eating and look at Paul when he says this. Paul looks down penitently. 00020000065800004A17652,Paul (CONTD) I am sorry. Please forgive me. John hands him the plate of cornbread. John No need, friend. We all lose our faith sometimes. Paul smiles. He takes a piece of cornbread and passes the plate on. TRUDY Tell me about your wife. Paul frowns and looks down at his watch. The time reads 9:37. A few seconds go by. The clock now reads 9:36. Paul now smiles. Paul She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She talked all the time. It used to get on my nerves. Now I feel everything in life is too quiet without her around. Trudy looks down at her plate. Probably sorry she poked a crusty wound. John How did she die? TruDY John! Thats terribly uncalled for. JOHN Sorry. I didnt mean any offense. Paul No. Dont worry about it. Paul takes a drink of water out of the glass in front of him. PAUL (CONTD) We were driving back from her parents house late one night. She was asleep in the passenger seat. I saw some headlights from a truck come up over a hillside in our lane. I honked the horn and swerved to the right but it did no good. The truck hit us head on. Her neck was broke by the seat belt. Somehow I lived. Only some minor bruises. John What is driving? PAUL Oh, my bad. Driving is like having a motorized wagon propelling you. Cars and trucks carry passengers to and from different places quickly. JOHN Oh. TRUDY That is just awful, Paul. PAUL Your telling me. The people at the table continue to eat. Ext. front porch - NIGHT John and Paul are out on the front porch smoking. John is sitting in a rocking chair. Paul is standing up, looking out at the stars in the sky. 0002000006300000506962A,PAUL This is truly beautiful place. John Why thank you, Paul. PAUL No, I mean it is perfect. JOHN Well, I wouldnt quite say that. PAUL What do you mean? You have land as far as the eye can see. You have plentiful crops and livestock. Plus, you have a wonderful family. JOHN All is not what it seems... Paul turns to John, studying him intently John (CONTD) Every year on the third Saturday in October, the INVADERS come. They take are cattle, chickens, pigs, and crops. Paul What?!? JOHN Yeah, the Invaders come and take from us. They leave us enough to live and get by. PAUL Why do you put up with this? Why dont you fight them? JOHN How do you think my father died? Paul is stirred. He pumps his fist in the air and brings it down in his palm. JOHN (CONTD) I remember what it was like to be young and fearless. John scratches his stubble and exhales on his tobacco. JOHN (CONTD) I am a family man, now. I cannot risk taking on five gunslingers. If I die, how will my family survive? PAUL You dont have to take it from them. I bet their just a bunch of bullies. The moment you bloody their nose, theyll run away and never come back. JOHN Probably. But I cannot risk my familys welfare against 5 hard calibers. A coyote wails in the distance. John (CONTD) Hold on. Let me take care of that rascal. If I dont, hell take my chickens. John stands up out of the rocker and walks inside the house. Paul is visibly angered. John comes back a moment later with a rifle in hand. He pulls down on the lever action and shoots the gun straight up in the sky. 00020000081A00005693814,He sits back in the chair with the gun folded over his lap. Paul Maybe you should take that gun and take care of the coyotes that are coming tomorrow. There for sure going to take more than a couple of chickens. JOHN They dont take everything. I mean they take a lot from us, but they leave us enough to get by. PAUL Just so you can keep providing for them year after year. That is the only reason they leave you anything. JOHN Your right. But what can I do. I am in a compromised position. PAUL Fine. Whatever. Keep being bullied. I dont care. Paul finishes smoking his tobacco and puts it out on the porch. He sits down in the rocker next to John. JOHN Tell me about this Pink Floyd fellow on your shirt. Pauls grimace is replace by a smile and a hearty laugh. PAUL Ha. Not much to tell. Pink Floyd is not a person. Their a rock band from where I am from. Well, not exactly where I am from. You know, music? JOHN Yeah I know music. I play a little guitar myself. Paul looks down at the watch. He pushes the button on the side of the watch. A neon green glow lightens the watch. The clock now reads 6:35. John (Perplexed) What is that? PAUL A watch. Keeps up with time. Usually. This one seems to be broken. Runs backwards. JOHN Yeah, I know what a watch is. Dont really need one though. I need to know only two times in the day. Sun-up and sun-down. Dont need a watch for that. PAUL (LAUGHING) I guess not. JOHN Well, partner. I think I am going to hit the hay. Paul You mind if I stay out here longer. JOHN Not at all. He stands up and takes the gun in his right hand. He pats Paul on the shoulder. Paul grabs Johns arm before he walks off. PAUL I cant thank you and your family enough for taking me in. I mean I was asleep in your field rambling on like a crazy man. JOHN No problem man. Your good people. I can tell these things. He looks at Pauls face. He is studying him intently. John (CONTD) Dont let the Invader business get to you. We manage. Paul Oh. No. Im thinking about my life back home. Have a good night. 0002000006C200005EA76BC,John walks inside. Paul continues to sit in the rocker, rocking back and forth. He rocks back and forth. Paul clenches his left hand into a fist. He pounds his fist into the arm of the rocker. He gets out of the chair and paces along the front porch. Paul turns and walks quietly into the house being careful to not slam the door shut. Int. Living room Paul looks toward the fireplace. John placed the rifle back over the fireplace on the shelf. Paul walks over to the fireplace. He picks up the gun. He also takes the box of bullets lying next to the gun. He turns around and creeps back out of the house. EXT. Barn - night Paul walks up to the barn. He looks around and then heads inside. Int. Barn Paul heads to the staircase at the far end of the barn. He hops up the first couple of steps. Int. Barn loft Paul comes out in the loft of the barn. He looks at his surroundings and heads to the loft window. He pulls up the rope that kids were playing on not 8 hours ago. He stacks it to the left out of his way. He sets the gun down to his right. He lays down next to the gun, facing towards the window. The window has a nice view of the front of the house and the hilltop that he and John came down that very afternoon. He checks his watch. It reads 5:45. He looks at Johns rifle. He sits back up and picks the gun up. He unloads it and reloads it. Satisfied, he sets the gun back down. Then lays back down beside it. Paul takes one last look at the house and then lays his head down. His eyes close immediately. EXT. Hilltop - Daybreak The hilltop is magnificent in the early morning sunlight. Birds are chirping in the trees. Squirrels are looking for the treasure of hickory nuts and acorns. 00020000062700006563621,The peaceful setting is broken by approaching hoofbeats. They can be heard before they are ever seen. Suddenly, a MAN on horseback is seen riding over the hill. Four more follow shortly behind. They are riding at a furious pace. Dust is picking up at the heels of their horses. Int. Barn LOFT Paul is wide awake. He sits motionless with the rifle at his shoulder. He is at the corner of the window as if not to be seen. He cocks the lever on the rifle. EXt. Field close to house The Invaders are getting close to the house now. They have slowed their pace. They have become more visible. They all look the same. The five men are all wearing cow hide chaps with gray plaid shirts and black cowboy hats. They are definitely armed as well. All of them have pistols on their belts. Some have cattle carbines in their saddle bags as well. EXt. House The five men finally reach the house. They come to a stop. The men take a step off their horses and walk toward the house. Int. BARN LOFT Paul doesnt waste another second. He takes a shot. Ext. House The Invader closest to the house hits the dirt, without so much as a wince. The others look around confused as to where the shot came from. Int. BarN LOFT Paul takes advantage of the confusion. He cocks the lever on the rifle. He fires again. Ext. HouSE Another Invader falls. Now the others see the gunfire is coming from the barn loft. They take off running towards the barn in zig zag patterns with pistols firing. Int. Barn LOFT Paul cocks the lever again and fires, as a bullet hits the barn above him. 00020000068B00006B84685,EXT. House The bullet hits the ground beside one of the men running towards the barn. They continue to run towards the barn in a fury of gunfire. Int. Barn Paul takes off towards the stairs as the battlefront is changing to a different front. He loads three more bullets into the rifle and kneels down at the top of the stairs. After a calming breath, he leans out over the top of the stairs and aims down the staircase. An unlucky Invader was taking the first step up to the loft when Paul shoots him right through the neck. Paul leans back away from the staircase and recocks the gun. He takes another breath and leans back down the staircase. This time, an Invader is waiting for him. The Invader shoots and hits Paul in the chest. Paul lets out a grunt and a yell. He drags himself off the top stair and crawls back to the wall. Blood is pouring out from his right pectoral. He tries to reload the gun. He can bearly lift his right arm to reload. He puts a bloody bullet in the rifle and recocks. An Invader runs up the stairs. He shoots quickly and wildly. One of the shots manages to hit Paul in the leg. The other five were errant. Paul takes advantage of the mans impatient wildness and takes a shot and drops the man. Paul (blood spewing out his mouth) One aimed bullet does better than six in who knows what direction. He tries to recock the gun. He looks down and notices that the gun is out of ammo. A footstep is heard on the stairs. Paul lays the gun down beside him. It is of no use anymore. He wipes the blood away from his mouth. He looks down at his watch. The watch reads 00:03. A smile filled with bloody teeth stretch across Pauls face. 000200000F1400007209F0E,Paul (CONTD) I guess this thing does work. The footsteps continue up the stairs. A pair of eyes peak out over the opening of the stairs. The man sees that Paul is now unarmed. He walks up the stairs boldly now. He reloads his pistol and walks towards Paul. INVADER Well, you killed every single one of my brothers. You didnt get me though. The Invader turns and spits a wad of tobacco on Pauls shirt. INVADER (CONTD) And you will pay so dearly for that. Behind the Invader, John has crept behind him. John I believe you are wrong about that. Without hesitation, John shoots the man. The man falls down and moves no more. John turns to Paul and runs over to him. John (CONTD) What a stupid thing you have done? Look what youve done to yourself. Paul What have I done? Im not even sure if Im alive man. JOHN Your clearly alive man. Well, maybe not for much longer. PAUL Ha-ha. You are funny. Will you help me outside? JOHN I dont think I should move you. PAUL If Im going to die, I would like to die outside instead of a hay loft. JOHN OK. John picks Paul up. Paul winces as he is picked up. John is careful not to trip over the two bodies as he heads down the staircase. EXT. Barn John sets Paul down. He begins to tear up. Paul Why are you doing that? You dont know me. Theres nothing to be sad about. John Why did you do this? You dont know me or my family. PAUL I know enough. Well you were stupid enough to take me in too. Dont tell me about rational thinking. Plus, this is to surreal. How am I alive here in what seems like the early 1900s being attacked by Invaders like the video game I played in the 80s. And apparently Im a fucking great shot. I am like Lee Harvey Oswald or something. I have to be dead or dreaming. Too many weird occurrences. JOHN No man. I am real. You are real. You feel those bullets in you dont you. The pain is real. PAUL That is true. I had this shirt in high school and I know I gave it away because it didnt fit anymore. But low and behold, I wake up here with it on and it fits perfectly. Also, how about the prophetic watch counting down till the exact time I die. That is just too perfect. JOHN I cant explain those. Paul takes a big cough. His lungs are filling with a lot of blood. He coughs out a lot of blood. John looks concerned and fearful. John (CONTD) No matter what you think about what you did, I thank you. PAUL No problemo. I havent been this happy in quite some time. Who knew all it took was for me to wake up in some new dimension and meet strangers and give my life to save them. John squinches his face up. JOHN But you dont really even know us? Paul I know enough. I wanted your life at one time. It was taken away from me. I just wanted to make sure it continued for you. Paul leans over and coughs up a huge pool of blood. Paul (CONTD) Well, I think this is the end friendo. It was good to meet you and thank you for your kindness. John I wont forget what you did for me and mine. May you find the peace your looking for. God tests all of us. I think you passed. Pauls head leans over to the side. His chest is no longer rising or falling. The timer on the watch begins to beep. At that moment, the sky turns an angry shade of red. Lightning bolts again flash across the sky. Completely blanketing the sky from one end down towards the other. A great schism starts in the middle of the sky. The world begins to open at the middle of the sky. A penetrating darkness begins encroach at the great schism. The schism continues to grow. The split then engulfs the world in its blackness. Int. Bathtub Pink Floyds Comfortably Numb is still playing on the radio sitting on the counter. Pauls eyes are wide open as he lies motionless underneath the water. He doesnt move. A small smile graces the corners of his mouth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
