ABOUT THE STAGE ADAPTATION :
Nearly 50 years after the publication of
the novel, Chicago's world-famous Steppenwolf Theatre
Company premiered the first successful stage adaptation
of The Grapes of Wrath. It was written and directed by Frank Galati
and was quickly hailed as a new classic of the American stage, ultimately earning Galati a
unique place in theatre history: he won two Tony Awards -- one for the
adaptation and another for his direction.
Steppenwolf
co-founders Gary Sinise and Terry Kinney starred
as Tom and Casy, first in Chicago, and then on Broadway.
