 ·  What is the refugee and war imagery employed in this chapter? Why is it an appropriate metaphor?

 ·  Note the discrimination the migrants face along the way. Discuss the irony in the definition of "thieving" as it's considered here.

 ·  How can the last scene in this chapter be an allegory to the entire novel's journey? (You might consider coming back to this question after you finish the novel.)
